This Privacy Policy describes how NerdLabs ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information through the ProfitFinder application ("the App"). ProfitFinder is a Shopify application that provides profit analytics and ad spend tracking for merchants.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Shopify Store Data
When you install ProfitFinder, we access the following data from your Shopify store through Shopify's API:
- Order data (order amounts, dates, product details, discounts, shipping costs)
- Product and variant information (titles, prices, inventory levels)
- Store profile information (store name, email, currency)
1.2 Google Ads Data
Google Ads API Disclosure: ProfitFinder uses the Google Ads API to retrieve your advertising campaign performance data. When you connect your Google Ads account, we access:
- Campaign spend and cost data
- Campaign performance metrics (impressions, clicks, conversions)
- Account-level summary data
We access this data solely to display ad spend and ROAS metrics within your ProfitFinder dashboard. We do not modify your Google Ads campaigns, settings, or billing. We use Google Ads API data in compliance with the Google Ads API Terms and Conditions and Google API Services User Data Policy.
1.3 Meta (Facebook) Ads Data
Meta Marketing API Disclosure: ProfitFinder uses the Meta Marketing API to retrieve your Facebook and Instagram advertising data. When you connect your Meta ad account, we access:
- Ad account spend data
- Campaign, ad set, and ad performance metrics
- Account-level cost and performance summaries
We access this data solely to display ad spend and return metrics within your ProfitFinder dashboard. We do not create, modify, or manage your Meta ad campaigns. We use Meta data in compliance with Meta Platform Terms and Meta Developer Policies.
1.4 Data You Provide
- Cost of goods sold (COGS) per product variant
- Additional cost inputs (shipping costs, overhead)
- Account preferences and settings
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data exclusively to:
- Calculate and display real profit metrics for your store
- Aggregate ad spend from Google Ads and Meta with your Shopify order data
- Provide profit forecasting, break-even analysis, and customer LTV calculations
- Generate inventory health and discount performance reports
- Send you notifications about your store's profit performance (if enabled)
- Improve and maintain the App
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for their marketing purposes. Your data may be shared only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use infrastructure providers (hosting, databases) that process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, subpoena, or court order.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, data may be transferred as part of business assets.
Google Ads Data: We do not share, sell, or use Google Ads API data for any purpose other than displaying your ad spend and performance metrics within ProfitFinder. Google Ads data is never used for advertising, remarketing, or profiling.
Meta Ads Data: We do not share, sell, or use Meta Marketing API data for any purpose other than displaying your ad spend and performance metrics within ProfitFinder.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Data is stored on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+).
- Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel only.
- We retain your data only as long as you have ProfitFinder installed. Upon uninstallation, your data is deleted within 30 days.
- Google Ads and Meta Ads credentials (OAuth tokens) are stored encrypted and are revocable at any time by disconnecting your account within ProfitFinder or revoking access from Google/Meta directly.
5. Google Ads API: Limited Use Disclosure
ProfitFinder's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We only use Google Ads data to provide and improve the profit analytics features you see in ProfitFinder.
- We do not transfer Google Ads data to third parties except as necessary to provide the service, comply with law, or as part of a merger/acquisition.
- We do not use Google Ads data for serving advertisements.
- Humans only read Google Ads data when you give explicit consent, it is necessary for security purposes, to comply with law, or for aggregated/anonymized internal operations.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about your store.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data at any time. Uninstalling the app triggers automatic deletion within 30 days.
- Revoke Access: Disconnect Google Ads or Meta accounts at any time from within the app or from the respective platform's settings.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
7. Cookies and Tracking
ProfitFinder does not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes. We use only essential session cookies required for the app to function within the Shopify admin.
8. Children's Privacy
ProfitFinder is a business tool for Shopify merchants. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting an update within the app or by email.
