Data Deletion Instructions

Last updated: August 11, 2026

This page explains how to delete the data that ProfitFinder (operated by NerdLabs) holds about you, your store, and your connected advertising accounts. Every method below is self-serve; no method requires contacting us, though you are always welcome to.

1. Delete everything: uninstall the app

Uninstalling ProfitFinder from your Shopify store deletes all data we hold for that store.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels.
  2. Find ProfitFinder and click Uninstall.

Following Shopify's data protection process, Shopify notifies us after uninstall and we permanently delete the store's data — order analytics, cost settings, customer segments, email preferences, ad platform connections and tokens, and all cached ad spend data. This happens automatically; deletion completes within 30 days of uninstalling, typically much sooner.

2. Delete an ad platform connection without uninstalling

If you only want to remove a connected Meta (Facebook) or Google Ads account:

  1. Open ProfitFinder from your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. On the Meta Ads or Google Ads card, click Disconnect.

Disconnecting immediately deletes the stored access token for that platform and the connection record. Cached ad spend figures associated with the connection are removed from our systems.

Connected through Facebook Login? You can also revoke ProfitFinder's access from the Meta side: in Facebook, go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Business integrations, select ProfitFinder, and click Remove. Combined with the Disconnect step above (or an uninstall), this removes both the authorization and the data we hold.

3. Shopper (customer) data

ProfitFinder processes limited customer information from your store (order history and aggregate purchase metrics) solely to provide analytics to you, the merchant. If one of your customers requests deletion of their data, submit the request through Shopify's standard privacy tools (Settings → Customer privacy in your Shopify admin, or via a GDPR/CCPA request). Shopify forwards these requests to us automatically and we delete the customer's data from our systems within 30 days.

4. Manual deletion requests

If you prefer, or if you have any concern that data remains after using the methods above, email us at support@nerdlabs.us from the email address associated with your store, with the subject line "Data deletion request". We will confirm completion within 30 days.

5. What we retain

After deletion we retain no store data, customer data, ad account tokens, or ad spend data. Records we are legally required to keep (for example, billing records of subscription charges processed through Shopify) are retained only as long as the law requires.
